Notebook Challenge

This week I thought we'd take a break from folding and templates and such and do something that is easy for everyone! 

We all have notebooks sitting around that we are using or just saving to make beautiful or, alternatively, we all have dollar stores nearby where we can find a very inexpensive book for this challenge!

So, this week, please cover a notebook and share your creation with us by Tuesday, January 27th 9PM MST.  Then next Wednesday, January 28, 2009 we will announce our winner. Carrie decided to use a very simple book from her local dollar store. 

She first cut a new mat for the top out of heavy duty cardboard and ran it through her Sizzix to get a window effect, added designer paper and tons of ribbon and there you have it!

For our Daily Window Products Challenge you are to create anything that will fit into a clear pocket measuring 6"x8". You could make a card, a scrapbook layout, the choice is yours. Something new for 2009... instead of our spotlight series we are adding another challenge. The second week of each month make a card or scrapbook layout measuring 6"x8". Why this size you ask??? Treat Pouch Challenge

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

After a brief hiatus, Pam and I are back! For this challenge, we thought we'd put something out there that everyone can make - whether you have cardmaking supplies or not.

This great treat pouch can be made with designer paper, cardstock, construction paper or just plain old copy paper (which I'm sure you'll dress up a bit).

For my sample this week, I used designer paper and started with a 6x6 square. This is very important, you MUST start with a square piece of paper. I dressed it up with some cardstock layered inside and matching embellishments.

When putting this post together, I tried to give you a great template and then remembered that I'd received many comments on how actually seeing it is better so I decided to do a "video template" for this challenge. Check it out!

Try this out and start with any size square you want! Just make one and come back with a link to your blog by Tuesday, Jan 13th at midnight MST.

Holiday Idea #6

I love to give gift cards over the holidays - just way easier sometimes than racking my brain to find that perfect something for someone!

When I get a gift card I always love to dress it up special - so this year, I used special tins that I have had in the back of my closet for what seems like decades!

You can use any size tin and your imagination and you too can accomplish a beautiful gift card holder.

There are so many great gift card holder ideas out there - why not share yours?

Holiday Idea #5

So, for many of us, next week will bring a big dinner table filled with family and friends. So, why not dress it up? For this Holiday Idea, I'd love to share some quick and simple decor ideas for your dinner table.

I used very little supplies but kept with a specific colour palette to be in keeping with the holidays. In this photo you'll see I've made:

• candle votive holder
• napkin ring
• place card
• wine charms

Now, the place card photo piece can be made into a gift tag or tree ornament simply by adding a piece of ribbon to the back!

Holiday Idea #4 Match Book

Time for another holiday treat idea...a cocoa match book.  Another very simple packaging idea for a sweet little treat. I took the cocoa packet as a guide for the match book and cut my card stock to 7 1/2" x 5". I scored the card stock at 1" and 4 1/4" (along the long side) then wrapped it around the cocoa packet. I stapled the edge of the packet inside the small flap, which also allows the top flap to tuck inside and stay shut. I added some pattern paper from Stampin' UP!, a bow and little matching tag and voila! Try this out with any filler, such as tea, bag of M&M's, even a gift card (just tape the gift card inside to secure).  Lets see some of your ideas!
