There will be challenges, prizes and just plain FUN!Carrie Gaskinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15524249404079061722noreply@blogger.comBlogger54125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2723935852585767122.post-43167327989306054962009-03-07T09:22:00.001-08:002009-03-07T20:13:20.264-08:00So Long Farewell...Well it has been a great 6 months with all of you. Carrie and I have had so much fun creating challenges and samples for all of you. After much thought we both feel that it is time to pack up 3DDC. We know we have a great idea here as far as a challenge blog, but our players have been less and less each month. Maybe it is just a timing thing and who knows maybe you will see us again in the future. We appreciate all of you who have posted comments and entries each week.<br />Hugs,<br />Pam<br /><br />Yes, as Pam has stated above, it has been an amazing 6 months. Thank you to all who have played with our challenges. We have so enjoyed doing these and were so thrilled to see such creative ladies play along. Maintaining a challenge blog is not always an easy task. There is much planning involved in preparing challenges, procuring sponsors, and maintaining the site itself. We have been very blessed to have found such great sponsors over these past months and were thrilled with their products and ideas. But, alas, sometimes things don't always work out as you'd initially intended. And, with the players becoming fewer and fewer, it was clear that maybe this blog wasn't quite working....just yet! I believe it is a timing thing and I'm certain you'll see Pam and I again in the future!<div><br /></div><div>Thank you for all your hard work and sharing your creativity with us,</div><div>Carrie</div>Pamela Smerkerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15081087899068497968noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2723935852585767122.post-66422705865615858532009-03-01T11:03:00.000-08:002009-03-01T11:43:23.475-08:00Bookmark Challenge Winner<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqrz3w7QCunfvErV06pvN5lIBsSFLQq6Q64gyZauGo1YAvK5kxHAB-9DtLyeN5kBUorLGx25kf-K9x9-9-7hNgZmjA1k2Uq7HNmkH9xOx5jYv1zMnyGFrwMjI5aiS9zv_u5uYvF601GlKM/s1600-h/DSC_0169.JPG"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 278px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqrz3w7QCunfvErV06pvN5lIBsSFLQq6Q64gyZauGo1YAvK5kxHAB-9DtLyeN5kBUorLGx25kf-K9x9-9-7hNgZmjA1k2Uq7HNmkH9xOx5jYv1zMnyGFrwMjI5aiS9zv_u5uYvF601GlKM/s400/DSC_0169.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5308306361728881810" /></a><br />Thanks to both<a href="http://calonghorn.wordpress.com/2009/02/24/using-up-scraps-and-a-redo/"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 153, 0);"> Melita</span></a> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(204, 51, 204);"><a href="http://cardsandacuppa.blogspot.com/2009/03/corner-bookmark-challenge.html">Sarah Jane</a></span> for playing along this week.<div> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;">Melita</span></span> you are the winner of a gift certificate to <a href="http://www.pinkpersimmon.com/index.html"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:large;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(255, 102, 102);">Pink Persimmon</span></span></a>! <div><br /></div><div>I loved using Pink Persimmon's clear polymer stamps. Can you believe we are onto our second month of the 2009 already?!<br />For our first challenge this month we have made a template for you to make the ever so popular<br />"Hanging Heart" made from a "Petal Card" template. A cute little basket that you can fill with all kinds of Valentine treats for your loved ones. Just print out the template, cut two petal cards, score two of the flaps to get your heart shape. Attach folded flaps to a strip of paper measuring of 2"x 8 1/2" scored in half at 4 1/4".<br /><br /><a href="http://640076636233827594-a-1802744773732722657-s-sites.googlegroups.com/site/3ddesignchallengefiles/Home/petal_card_template-3d-design-challenge.pdf?attredirects=0&auth=ANoY7co0eUvNRqjJ5EFxoBmgNh17FUfYW1BU--SNYe6rU3-ONnKrhbiyOCcy6098nb3URMeOg-lwxgkh6toT0xgmu82zMUY1pcIulkPEQzJgRG3up9yuTDxed2zT2QWnUGPLn3iaEcVTuSXgmuWNEzod3j9aUaNe8u3ADJsL6j85YSwSRunOgQfekudLeRvmKqKntQEmX40AuQjIftr2nA5EHm8SjfuN8DmKlxxxr90CTmRejflZJ8RYUMRumFnTsgbV-TjsWZhK"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Petal Card Template "Hanging Heart"</span></a><br /><br /><br /><a href="http://www.pinkpersimmon.com/index.html">Pink Persimmon</a> is our "Sponsor of the Month" and Pam used their <a href="http://www.pinkpersimmon.com/shop/flowergarden.html">Flower Garden</a> set to create the little bird, butterfly and snail on this project. For this challenge, we thought we'd put something out there that everyone can make - whether you have cardmaking supplies or not.<br /><br />This great treat pouch can be made with designer paper, cardstock, construction paper or just plain old copy paper (which I'm sure you'll dress up a bit).<br /><br />For my sample this week, I used designer paper and started with a 6x6 square. This is very important, you MUST start with a square piece of paper. I dressed it up with some cardstock layered inside and matching embellishments.<br /><br />When putting this post together, I tried to give you a great template and then remembered that I'd received many comments on how actually seeing it is better so I decided to do a "video template" for this challenge. Check it out!<div><br /><br /><object width="480" height="295"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0okz1IShvf0&hl=en&fs=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0okz1IShvf0&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="295"></embed></object><br /><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Try this out and start with any size square you want! Another very simple packaging idea for a sweet little treat. I took the cocoa packet as a guide for the match book and cut my card stock to 7 1/2" x 5". I scored the card stock at 1" and 4 1/4" (along the long side) then wrapped it around the cocoa packet. I stapled the edge of the packet inside the small flap, which also allows the top flap to tuck inside and stay shut. I added some pattern paper from Stampin' UP!, a bow and little matching tag and voila! Try this out with any filler, such as tea, bag of M&M's, even a gift card (just tap<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrKpMnxLxmN44d9b0Aj_-0wBdBJew8PbgsHmZCJ4rwidMOfkAMYsBqGONxkSA5L6J93zxr1J_OUrrFIIipTHZavlDgUU3F7GJXXXxnOnBYNSehQyuqj9uGJg_a9WQXHEQfwsQFZfXoheGq/s320/cocoamatchbook.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5278756021780838482" />e the gift card inside to secure). As we know you are all busy as well, we are going to just post some great quick and simple holiday 3D ideas over the next couple of weeks every few days. You are more than welcome to make a sample of the idea and link back into the comments section or just take the idea and run with it!<br /><br />For our first idea, I decided to show something that I'd done at a local demo meeting as well as I've used recently at some workshops. This is a great way to dress up some simple treats for any occasion!<br /><br />All I did here was take a few nuggets (but you can use any candy) and put them into a cello bag with a bit of filler. Then I took a 1" x 12" strip of textured cardstock, folded it over and added a brad. I then used punches and various stamps to make a top.<br /><br />These would be great for a classroom or on the table for Christmas dinner filled with holiday candy!<br /><br />Have a great day,<br />~CarrieAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2723935852585767122.post-27166510054528263232008-11-30T14:45:00.000-08:002008-11-30T15:09:18.126-08:00Papertrey Ink winner<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4qrFTeBiCrlLjmkachL4wrLcER_ZqbYpyw6-FxT5-19xDv5ZauTEmJdEscJ01hyYvPKbNcRdIiJylr8tMlYaQ3ll6DYbucMp0BOyTnARVm5maOt-IQYBgq56toNnn4naVTigsUk1bqtSt/s1600-h/3ddceggbox.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 224px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4qrFTeBiCrlLjmkachL4wrLcER_ZqbYpyw6-FxT5-19xDv5ZauTEmJdEscJ01hyYvPKbNcRdIiJylr8tMlYaQ3ll6DYbucMp0BOyTnARVm5maOt-IQYBgq56toNnn4naVTigsUk1bqtSt/s320/3ddceggbox.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5274589936435915746" /></a><br />Our fabulous November sponsor,<a href="http://www.papertreyink.com/index.html"> Papertrey Ink</a> sent Carrie and myself one of their <a href="http://www.papertreyink.com/pack_boxes.html">egg boxes</a> to decorate. My plan was to cut some of the holly with red berries off of the bush we have in the yard and make the box into a holiday center piece. The holes in the top of the box make a great divider and will hold up bunches of flowers or branches very well. SO, it started snowing yesterday and hasn't stopped, that means my bush is covered! So imagine this little box filled with bright green leaves and vibrant red berries. I stamped some of the trees from <a href="http://www.papertreyink.com/stamps_merryandbright.html">"Merry & Bright</a>" one of Papertrey Ink's wonderful stamp sets. I stamped the images and cut them out, decorated them with a white gel pen, added some ribbon and rhinestones to finish. These egg boxes are great and can be used in so many different ways. We hope you found this project easy yet enjoyable.<br /><br />For my second sample I was inspired by the <a href="http://www.papertreyink.com/stamps_merryandbright.html">Merry & Bright</a> set from Papertrey Ink. I just loved the shape of these holiday trees. I used a 12x12 sheet of cardstock and made each side 4x4. I used my Coluzzle to round the tops of each side and nestled them together on top. I was inspired by <a href="http://kwernerdesign.com/blog/2008/11/color-inspiration-30.html">Kristina Werner's Challenge</a> for the colours and of course, I glittered the pants off it (not that you can tell from the photos, however).<br /><br />For Pam's second sample....</span><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbfCmfqyt1ItIBGm8XbOqtdP26uHJWX1HMOi4jciDVUN39c0-A6ZcpFiLBojDVR_UipK7cnm3Ug6CjPe3Fd3O9EJAVba0P4jg-vgi09XKiVx1gaFKlCksvVFEqDRZqlYKGoMFRYe8AP39I/s1600-h/metalbox.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 282px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbfCmfqyt1ItIBGm8XbOqtdP26uHJWX1HMOi4jciDVUN39c0-A6ZcpFiLBojDVR_UipK7cnm3Ug6CjPe3Fd3O9EJAVba0P4jg-vgi09XKiVx1gaFKlCksvVFEqDRZqlYKGoMFRYe8AP39I/s320/metalbox.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5267602367898663618" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-size:130%;">She went for a faux metal basket. This little box was made with</span><span style="font-size:130%;"> g</span><span style="font-size:130%;">old card stock and embossed with gold embossing powder. The little snowflake stamp i</span><span style="font-size:130%;">s from the set <a href="http://www.papertreyink.com/stamps_rusticsnowflakes.html">"Rustic Snowflakes" from Papertrey Ink</a>. A simple 6" x 1" strip of paper makes the handle for this little basket. A scalloped punch for the tops and threading some organdy ribbon through the side holes finishes off this project.<br /><br />Now for our winner this week. Congratulations to ...<br /><br /><a href="http://gqzmommy.blogspot.com/2008/11/open-top-box-3d-design-challenge.html">Tonya</a><br /><br />We loved the bold colours and fun trees on your project.
